Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Breagh Isabel is getting a career boost from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and RBC this week.

Currently based in Halifax, the talented singer, keyboardist and producer is one of 13 grant recipients in round four of the Music Video Production Project. The program was created to help Canadian artists further explore their craft, develop filmmaking skills and seek growth in their own industries.

Fellow recipients in this round also include artists like Polaris Music Prize shortlisted artists Dominique Fils-Aime, Marie Davidson & L’Oeil Nu and Pierre Kwenders; Nunavut musician Joey Nowyuk; and Toronto R&B singer-songwriter Adria Kain.

Joining Breagh Isabel for the grant are Vancouver director Tamara Black and producer Shelby Manton, who were selected for their video concept for the upcoming single Girlfriends. In addition to funding for the video, the artists will have opportunities for mentorship and networking with established industry professionals.

Previously, the singer collaborated with artists like Ria Mae and Donovan Woods, and she appeared on Classified’s recent single Good News as a co-writer and featured performer.

With the unveiling of the round four MVP Project grant recipients, round five submissions are now open until Nov. 1 and can be submitted by eligible emerging artists at MVPProject.ca.
