A 76-year-old man died Saturday after the sport utility vehicle he was driving went off the road and crashed in East Lawrencetown.

RCMP said the single-vehicle crash happened just before noon on Crowell Road. The SUV was on its side when RCMP, paramedics and firefiighters arrived at the scene.

The driver, a Cole Harbour man, was transported to Dartmouth General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The two passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed until 4:30 while an RCMP collision analyst processed the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
